State-of-the-Art Review of High-Throughput Statistical Spatial-Mapping Characterization Technology and Its Applications Review

Haizhou Wang, Lei Zhao, Yunhai Jia, Dongling Li, Lixia Yang, Yuhua Lu, Guang Feng, Weihao Wan

Engineering 2020, Volume 6, Issue 6,   Pages 621-636 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2020.05.005

Abstract:

Macroscopic materials are heterogeneous, multi-elementary, and complex. No material is homogeneous or isotropic at a certain small scale. Parts of the material that differ from one another can be termed ‘‘natural chips.” At different spots on the material, the composition, structure, and properties vary slightly, and the combination of these slight differences establishes the overall material performance. This article presents a state-of-the-art review of research and applications of high-throughput statistical spatialmapping characterization technology based on the intrinsic heterogeneity within materials. Highthroughput statistical spatial-mapping uses a series of rapid characterization techniques for analysis from the macroscopic to the microscopic scale. Datasets of composition, structure, and properties at each location are obtained rapidly for practical sample sizes. Accurate positional coordinate information and references to a point-to-point correspondence are used to set up a database that contains spatialmapping lattices. Based on material research and development design requirements, dataset spatialmapping within required target intervals is selected from the database. Statistical analysis can be used to select a suitable design that better meets the targeted requirements. After repeated verification, genetic units that reflect the material properties are determined. By optimizing process parameters, the assembly of these genetic unit(s) is verified at the mesoscale, and quantitative correlations are established between the microscale, mesoscale, macroscale, practical sample, across-the-scale span composition, structure, and properties. The high-throughput statistical spatial-mapping characterization technology has been applied to numerous material systems, such as steels, superalloys, galvanization, and ferrosilicon alloys. This approach has guided the composition and the process optimization of various materials.

Acceleration of the particulate organic matter hydrolysis by start-up stage recovery and its original

Yanqing Duan, Aijuan Zhou, Xiuping Yue, Zhichun Zhang, Yanjuan Gao, Yanhong Luo, Xiao Zhang

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 1, doi: 10.1007/s11783-020-1304-3

Abstract: Abstract • Carbon availability was partially solved by POM recovery and fermentation. • 12% carbon sources were regenerated by fermentation of the entrapped 35% TCOD. • The unique microbial communities facilitated the efficient hydrolysis of the POM. • Considerable economic benefits in aeration power and ECS dosage were anticipated. To address the availability of carbon sources for denitrification, the accelerated hydrolysis of the most abundant but low-availability fraction of particulate organic matter (POM) was investigated. Mesh sieves with different pore sizes were used as primary pretreatment at the start-up-stage of the biological process to separate some POM from the liquid system. The changes in soluble carbohydrates and proteins were monitored to investigate the hydrolysis performance of the sieved POM, with waste activated sludge (WAS) as the control test. The results showed that an average of 35% POM could be entrapped before filtrate mat development. In addition, benefiting from the high polysaccharides concentration, as well as the high availability due to the relatively loose physical structure, a 23% hydrolysis efficiency of POM was obtained, in contrast to that of WAS (3.4%), with a hydrolysis constant of 0.39 h−1. The prominent performance was also attributed to the unique microbial communities having been domesticated at a lower temperature, especially the cellulose-degrading bacteria Paraclostridium and psychrophile Psychrobacter, making up 6.94% and 2.56%, respectively. Furthermore, the potential benefits and application of improved POM hydrolysis by start-up stage recovery via mesh sieves combined with anaerobic fermentation were evaluated, including selective POM entrapment, alleviation of blockage and wear, and a reduction in aeration energy. By the proposed strategy, carbon availability for biological nutrient removal (BNR) processes is anticipated to be improved more economically than that can be achieved by primary clarifier elimination.

SHEN Wenquan

Frontiers in Energy 2007, Volume 1, Issue 2,   Pages 125-128 doi: 10.1007/s11708-007-0015-9

Abstract: By analyzing the challenges of China s energy supply, an excellent perspective of nuclear power development in the country has been described. Taking into account the near-, mid-, and long-term development requirements, a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable nuclear power program is proposed. Thus, our national nuclear industry can not only catch up with the world s advanced level in proper time, but also possess enough stamina for sustainability.

Resource evaluation, position and distribution of tight sandstone gas in China

Zhang Guosheng ,Deng Songtao

Strategic Study of CAE 2012, Volume 14, Issue 6,   Pages 87-93

Abstract:

Based on the reservoir forming condition research of tight sandstone gas in Ordos Basin, Sichuan Basin and Tarim Basin, the authors give two types of tight sandstone gas reservoirs, sloped lithologic type and structural type which are the main of tight sandstone gas reservoir. The favorable gas region is predicted with multi-factor overlay method. And based on the existed tight sandstone gas reservoir analysis, the authors get the main parameters such as reservoir abundance, gas-bearing area coefficient which are necessary for gas resource calculation of the large basin through analogism method. According to the result of this resource evaluation, the tight sandstone gas geological recoverable resource in China is 9.2×1012~13.4×1012 m3 which is widely distributed over coal measure basins. The tight sandstone gas is the most realistic source in present. Due to the support of government policies and the motivation of technological progress, it might become one of the pillar sources in natural gas development in 10 to 20 years.
